Transportation

Transportation Survey Responses:

1. What does sustainable transportation mean to you?
It means properly funding the needs of the community’s demands not only for roadways and parking lots but for improved transit, park and rides, bicycle infrastructure and walking trails. We need more people on transit, but, in so doing we need the financial support to work outside of the box. As a member of the Canadian Urban Transit association Board, we continue to strive and challenge each other to push the envelope in terms of sustainable mobility. The future will look a lot different in the coming years and decades and reality is that less people will own vehicles and more people will rely on public transportation.

* 2. How are you going to support it in our community?
I already am as chair of the city’s operation committee which includes Transit. The reality is that we can only do what the budget allows us to do. Education will remain a major factor in how we move alternative transportation ahead.

* Above includes answer to Top Public Question 3. What are you going to do to enhance walking, bicycling and transit usage in Greater Sudbury over the next 4 years?
