Transportation Survey Responses:

1. What does sustainable transportation mean to you?
walk, run or bike. I include buses as it allows for many people utilizing one mode of transport decreasing the effects of pollution.

I believe in bike paths (automatically included in new development), walking trails and a streamline transit system.
Proper biking trails included in all new residential developments, Support Rainbow Routes, redevelop a transit system including all stakeholders and all areas of the city

Water Quality


Water Quality Survey Responses:

1. In your view, what are the most important steps the city needs to take to protect water quality?
Watershed studies in Ramsey and surrounding lakes are implemented and more importantly acted upon. I believe this is an ongoing process.

Insure annual funding, implement educational tools for the public, marine vehicle wash stations.
Protect Ramsey Lake as the City’s most important body of water. Insure watershed and sub-watershed studies are continually funded...dedicate $240,000 a year to this as outlined in my platform. Introduce Marine vehicle water stations throughout the city. Utilize the experts at Vale Living with lakes and others in our community.

First press conference held was about the quality of water in our lakes and how we as a city must preserve what we have.

Natural Environment

1. How will you balance development with protection of the natural environment?
I believe in green spaces and their benefits. I believe we need to look at redeveloping instead of developing new areas. Reducing the loss of our natural environment.

2. How will you champion opportunities in your ward to fill gaps in parks service and to protect unique natural areas (identified by the Green Space Advisory Panel)?
Speak out about issues that endanger green spaces and lobby for increases in parks

Local Food Survey Responses:

1. How do you see the city’s role in food system sustainability, access to local food, and the connection to health?
I sat on the Market Square Relocation Committee because I believe in what the market stands fro and offers in locally grown food.

* 2. How would you develop local agriculture and fresh water and forest foods?
I would support the development of local food by supporting venues like the downtown market, community gardens and fresh water. I'm not an expert in developing these things and solicit advice from those in the field on how to move forward.

1. How will you ensure that community consultation is done effectively and openly, with productive dialogue from start to finish for municipal projects and decisions?
I believe in collaborative leadership and that is by inviting and listening to all stakeholders on projects and decisions.Town hall meetings, radio shows and the media are excellent venues for providing information.

2. How will you ensure a consistent culture of openness and support for public input across all city departments?
Bring back the Ombudsman, full time City Auditor, implement 311 fully allowing for the tracking of calls and outcomes. Put markers in place to insure goals are met and instill pride of ownership back in the city.

Work with companies to insure targets are being met on a timely manner. Push for the completion of Vale's Clean Air Project.
