1. What does sustainable transportation mean to you?
It is a system which aims to reduce emissions and fuel consumption for a smarter tomorrow.

* 2. How are you going to support it in our community?
I will be a champion for public transit causes, and make an effort to use public transit more often in my daily life.
We need to put more emphasis on public transportation as the cleaner and smarter way of the future. As a group we could explore the idea of “8/80”. We could create a safe cycling infrastructure for those in the age group of 8 to 80. I will be a champion for the betterment of Public Transit service for all.

Education and commitment. We must learn to understand our fragile water eco-systems and by doing so we will make smarter and more resilient decisions on Water Quality.

I haven’t had any exposure to the Vermilion River Stewardships Plan. Once I have been educated to the matter I can make a smarter decision then.

Natural Environment


Natural Environment Survey Responses:

1. How will you balance development with protection of the natural environment?
Its rather hard to strike this balance, however I will work with developers and community to try and find a common ground.

2. How will you champion opportunities in your ward to fill gaps in parks service and to protect unique natural areas (identified by the Green Space Advisory Panel)?
I will bring together local Ward 5 community groups and school. We will engage in education and awareness with respect to the changing needs of the community.

1. How do you see the city’s role in food system sustainability, access to local food, and the connection to health?
We must be a community partner and protect our current farming lands. We must monitor growth on farmlands carefully and make educated decisions.

I will work to support and expand the Good Food Basket Initiative. I will work to create a community website which promotes local farms and agricultural business and in season local foods.

Explanation:
I will work to educate citizens as to the benefits of buying local, however nothing should ever be forced. When preserving land we must also look at long term growth and development for all business activity, including farms.

I will commit to becoming a more citizen friendly city by updating the city’s website in a more timely fashion. I will hold periodic town hall meetings with the citizens of Ward 5 to explain where we are and where we are planning on going. I will also commit to engaging the citizens by using social media.

2. How will you ensure a consistent culture of openness and support for public input across all city departments?
By working to increase Accountability, Transparency and Re-Building Trust in municipal politicians.

What actions should the municipality take to reduce carbon emissions and improve community resilience in the face of climate change?
I am committed to the plan of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle as much as possible. I will work to promote energy efficiency and conservation in all municipal buildings and infrastructure.
